What a Deal

I normally wouldn't post something like this, but this is a great deal that some of you folks can probably appreciate. CompUSA has a 400Gb SATA hard drive on sale right now for about $100. That's with no mail in rebate, coupon, or any other hassle. 25 cents/gig is hard to beat, especially SATA.

They Follow Me Everywhere

You may have already noticed this, but it is now clear that the Republican challenger to Jennifer Granholm for governor, Dick DeVos, is an advocate of teaching creationism in public schools.

After the Ohio State School Board trial, there was quite a bit of talk that Michigan would be the next battleground state. Supposedly there were activists on the ground at a local level to start trying to bring individual school districts back to the Dark Ages. I don't know if DeVos is specifically related to this effort, the Discovery Institute, or any other anti-science organization, but he is clearly sympathetic.

I don't think either of my readers is a likely DeVos voter, but it's a point worth making clear. Many of us have family and friends who are inclined to vote R on economic reasons, but who might be shy of this particular wing of that party.

Back in Business

Yay! I finally got my laptop back. Three and a half weeks was a LONG time to go without it, I seriously think it's like an addiction. It really kept me anxious, affected my sleep and everything. Although I did get used to having everything on a little portable hard drive. I could see the attraction to having desktop workstations at home and work and just backing up to the web or carrying a storage device around. Of course then those would be the only places you could work.

Anyway, as nice as it is to have the laptop back, it came back with something of a curse. It seems like every computer I touch crashes. Actually everything else I touch seems to malfunction these days. Hopefully this won't last long.

Back to normal blogging this week!
